Are you actively creating a life that makes you happy? People often succumb to social expectations by settling into a career that negates their life purpose, but you don’t have to live that way! Today on The Legalpreneur Podcast, I remind you to forget what others think so you can focus on your happiness. It’s not always easy, but when you live on your own terms, you quickly realize that your happiness is indispensable.

It takes hard work to understand what makes you happy, and it might change over time, but when you shed your people-pleasing tendencies, you welcome joy back into your life! No two paths are exactly the same, so take the time to figure out what you love and become an active participant in the manifestation of your destiny.

Nothing in your life happens without your permission. You have the power to accept or deny every opportunity that comes your way. What would be an amazing adventure to one person might be your worst nightmare, so be diligent in the exploration of your needs and desires. Do not settle for someone else’s vision for your life. Choose to manifest the life and career that makes you happy!

Hello, there Happy Friday, I am finally back in the office after a long week we can have of craziness. I was in Austin for South by Southwest, which was absolutely amazing made so many connections, I was in a pitch competition, I didn’t win. But I do have investors that want to talk. So still kind of getting the W there. And if you have never been to South by Southwest, and you are an entrepreneur, you need to be there. Like I think everybody needs to experience it at least once in their life, especially as an entrepreneur. And the thing is, I didn’t even buy a pass to South by Southwest. There’s so many free events, and so many just side events for entrepreneurs, and it’s legitimately just a must attend event. So fun. So worth it like, oh, I had the best freaking time I can’t even say enough about it. And that’s why I want to talk about this topic today. Which is why you shouldn’t care what anyone else thinks. I had so many interesting conversations over the past week and a half. And a number of them came from people like we just started talking about how we finally did what we wanted to do, because we stopped caring about what other people think.

Andrea Sager  02:11

And this is a topic that I feel like everybody needs to explore at least once in their life. And what I mean by that is, I feel like you should explore what you want to do with your life. Because a lot of us just end up stuck doing what we’re doing. And you’re not intentionally living and creating your life. So I’m of the firm belief that we are co creators of our life, we don’t just happen into things, it happens, because at some point, like it’s actually what we’ve manifested whether consciously or subconsciously, a lot of the times it happens subconsciously, because we haven’t woken up to the fact that hey, I can actually co create my universe, I can create my world. And whenever we fall numb to that, we just let life happen to us. We don’t consciously create it, we just end up stuck. And that’s how we end up miserable and not happy and not thriving in life. And so I want you to take the time to sit and wonder like, Am I doing this? Because I want to do this? Or am I doing this? Because somebody else wanted me to do this? Am I doing this for another purpose? I’ve talked about before how when I had just the law firm, and I was doing really well. I eventually just became so unmotivated. And basically, what resulted was I learned that I was no longer motivated by the law firm, because who I was, as that owner of that law firm was so tied to who I was in my marriage.

Andrea Sager  03:49

And because I finally killed off my marriage, I no longer was motivated in the law firm. And this is I’m getting like into some really deep shit that I uncovered. And so you may not find this right away. So don’t think that Oh, I just thought about it happened. Like I realized this, I think was a year and a half after I actually left my ex husband. But what I learned was everything that I had accomplished up until that point of my life, because I’ve always been considered an overachiever. And a lot of times is great. Like, oh, she’s gonna do great things, because she’s not going to fail. She’s not going to let herself fail. But what I learned was, I was an overachiever. Because everything I achieved, I was trying to gain the love of someone else trying to earn the love of someone else. And once I realized that, I knew it was time to heal because I actually didn’t want to do things for other people anymore. I wanted to do them for me. And so that’s why I don’t think you should stop caring about what other people think about you and your life. Because as long as it makes you happy, that’s 100% All that matters.

Andrea Sager  06:17

now I just want to do whatever I want to do. And so I knew I didn’t care about the law firm anymore. I wanted to build something because I wanted to build it, not to earn anybody’s love. I wanted to do it because I loved myself. And that’s when I realized, oh, my gosh, Legalpreneur. This is an idea that I had. And I actually put it on the backburner because my ex husband didn’t want me to move forward with it. And so I finally was like, It’s time like, it’s been sitting under my nose, it’s time to go all in with Legalpreneur. This is something I want to do. And I’m not going to say it’s been all roses like it has been, I will tell you like financially, I’ve been in the worst place I’ve ever been in. However, I have been the happiest I’ve ever been. And I would be in this position. 100 times over. My best friend called me. I think like a week or two ago, it was a week ago. And he was like, hey, you’ll never get and he’s an entrepreneur. We’re both just like born and bred entrepreneurs. So we get along so well, because we can just talk business. He’s like, you’ll never guess this company called me for this job that pays $350,000 a year. That’s a lot of money. Like even as an entrepreneur, just banking $350,000 a year, like, that’s good money. And he’s like, What do you think? Should I do it? Should I take it? I was like, Dude,

Andrea Sager  07:36

I am in the worst place financially that I’ve ever been in, in my entire life. And I would still choose to be here, then go work for someone else paying me $350,000 A year, like there’s no amount of money that somebody could pay me to go work for them right now. And it’s also because I know that we’re like, right here on the ledge like about to just jump off and just like, everything’s gonna be so amazing. And I mean, everything is amazing, but we’re gonna be making so much more money soon. I like I just feel it. And so I told her, I was like, I would never take another job. I just can’t like I’m unemployable. Like, that’s the ultimate truth. I am unemployable. And so if that’s not your reality, that’s perfectly fine. Some people are born and bred to be employees, some people should be employees, some people thrive at just going to collect a paycheck, and not thinking about work the rest of the day, like I get anxiety, if I’m not thinking about work. If I’m not thinking about Legalpreneurs, I’m not thinking about, Oh, my gosh, what else do we need to be doing ilLegalpreneur. And that doesn’t mean I’m always working on the business. But in some capacity, I am always thinking about Legalpreneur. And I love that, because I know that we are literally building an empire over here. And that’s what I love to do. But you may love something else. And that is perfectly fine.

Andrea Sager  09:00

But the key to life is figuring out your purpose and living that out. Who cares if your parents think you should be doing this, or should be doing that. Do what you want to do, do what is going to make you happy. And it may take some trial and error. It’s a simplified statement. Do what makes you happy. Figuring out what makes you happy is not always easy. So don’t think you’re going to think about it and it’s just going to come to you. It may take some digging, and it may change over time. What makes you happy is going to change over time. But as long as you’re living your truth, your purpose, doing what you want to do. That’s that’s all you need. Okay. That is what I have to say for today.

Andrea Sager  09:45

I believe you should stop worrying about what other people think. I believe you should be living out your heart’s desire, and that’s how I live life today. It’s like okay, is this something my heart desires? Number two is this can pick a good story someday.

Andrea Sager  10:02
