Employment Rights During Covid-19 with Employment Attorney Claudia Castillo

TOP3SMALLBIZLEGALISSUES5-2 - The Legalpreneur

Some of the most common questions I’ve received in the last two months have to do with bringing employees back to work as businesses reopen during Covid-19. To answer all of your questions I’m joined by Employment Attorney Claudia Castillo of ResolvEmployment Law. Listen in for an overview of what you’ll need to keep in mind as your employees return to the workplace.

In this episode we’ll cover:

  • Employee rights as to whether or not they return to work when a brick & mortar reopens

  • How the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and OSHA regulations factor into decisions about high-risk employees returning

  • Under what circumstances employers have to continue paying employees

  • The difference between firing, layoffs, and furloughs

  • What you need to know about the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA)

  • How Covid-related illnesses in your workplace would involve workers compensation

While we haven’t yet seen litigation surrounding someone catching Covid-19 at a business, the future of lawsuits surrounding this topic is not out of the question, so you’ll want to be proactive in order to protect your business. That’s why I’ve created a free Covid-19 waiver so that you’ll have an extra level of protection if we begin to see litigation around Covid and businesses.
